really gonna depend on how you plan on using it. Drag, street cruisin, both, maybe just show, also how deep your wallet goes. tool availability, skills, room to work, the list goes on and on... If your on a tight budget go with the s-10 frame, if you know what you're doin fab up your own frame. There's plenty of info on this site to help you through it.

Looks like a great start. I agree. The best way to go would be a tube chassis, but it's more expensive and requires more fabrication skill. Easiest way is to go is to use a s10 frame or similar small frame that there's aftermarket support for a V8 swap. Good luck!

thank you for the suggestions. i have everythin to build it myself at my disposal and am very good with fabing up stuff. we have a garage bigger than our house so room is no issue either. i will be building a frame myself. i just found a 350 engine that has been complete rebuilt. every nut and bolt is bran new, and the guy is going to give i to me for 1700. i am so excited. and as soon as i have new pics i will post them.

Sounds great. You might want to consider possibly even using a s10 front clip for your suspension. Unless you can afford a mustang II which is the better way to go.

sounds pretty good. i was thinking about sticking with a vw front end. there pretty cheap and easy to get a hold of. and i want this thing to look as close to stock as i can. its fun to watch peoples faces when a beetle blows by them. but if anyone knows a reason it wouldnt work let me know please.

Sounds good. Use the beam front suspension. It'll work but your engine will have to sit about where the front windshield is. So you wont be able to mount your seat in the stock location.

i figured on that. once i get my frame mesured out and start building it i will see what i can do about the motor placement. and if i need to i will find a different front end if i dont like the seating or motor placement. thank you for the info. it is always good to hear what others have done and what works or doesnt.

I'm using the stock front end , it does take up some room if you want the engine to sit low. I rebuilt it all the way up. Moving the engine back did give me more room for the rad and coolers. Check out my thread and you can see what I mean. The bug from hell also uses a bug beam and he said it works fine.

Just saw the other thread you started. You're in the military in Iraq. It's guy's like you that are making all this stuff possible. Thanks for your service. Be safe and get home so you can get to the build! c-ya.

we should be out of here before the end of next month back to the states. then about the end of january i will take leave and head home to my familie and hopefully to start my build:) i only get about 25 days but it will be well spent. i will definately post more pics of my bug as it sits when i get back and take them, and on any other things i do to her wile home. if i decided to go with the mustang 2 front end instead, does anybody know if there is different ones or is any one sold online going to work? i found some on ebay and they list all kinds of vehicles and they have different pics. not my specialty.

False on the Mustang rack failure issue. It is the most widely used racks around. I'm running a 3.5" narrowed mustang setup in my car. You can get them in just about any width you want but I would make sure you get it from a reputable builder. Fatman Fabrications www.fatmanfab.com can build one narrow enough to fit what ever width you are looking for. He can go as narrow as 45.5" flange to flange and can help with the design. Art Morrison is another good source.
