well still not much progress but i think im going to run into a problem with my driver side header hitting my upper control arm when its laying frame, my inch tall engine mounts arent helping the situation... nobody ever said building a custom car would be easy haha

There's always something with these projects. Hang in there. You'll probably need to get some S10 2WD S10 motor mounts and some S10 conversion headers. They have both short and long tube headers for the conversion.
BTW, I have some 4WD S10 motor mounts you can have. They work with the 2WD S10 frame. Only problem is the mounts push the engine more towards the drivers side than 2WD mounts do. The mechanical fuel comes really close to the frame.

It works, but if you ever need to change the fuel pump you have to lift the engine. Or you could just go with an electric pump and block off the mechanical mount.

What headers are you usin again? Might have to make a custom set.

That's always an option. From looking at your pictures I would say you need to cut out more of the trunk sheet metal and get some conversion headers. That would be easiest.

ive got v8 s10 conversion headers, see the problem is ive already got my tranny mounts and everything made to match where the engine sits. also you all need to remember the only time the header touches is when the bug is completely layed out so it wont ever be that close while im driving, i think i may just massage the tube a little to help clear the control arm.

Hey hell raiser buy the tubular upper control arms from . When i had my s10 i had the same issue these saved my issue and they are cheap also. It was like 125.00 for the pair with the ball joints ! you gotta order 2 Right hand part numbers and the part is ............ www.speedwaymotors.com910-34394-R $49.99 Each www.speedwaymotors.com/IMCA-Spec-Stock-Car-Upper-Control-Arm,7241.html ALOT of the Drag S10 guys use these and they work great for clearance. DO NOT ORDER THE ALUMINUM ONES !!!! They wear out fast on the street.

You can also get chrome Moly upper control arms from speedway: www.speedwaymotors.com/Chrome-Moly-Upper-Control-Arm,5584.html for a couple $'s more. Thats what I got for our 69 convertible bug ( www.zbcreations.com) I don't know if it's necessary but I figured I'd might as well go with the chrome moly for a couple extra dollars. My stock UCA's were very rusty and I figured the tubular's would look much nicer and give me a little more room. I haven't got them put on yet because I still have the front end of the chassis torn down, I got about 75% of the front of the chassis wire wheel'd last night before I wore out the wheel, I need to finish that up, then sand blast it, then paint it with master series and then bed liner, then finally I'll be able to re-assembly the front end.
