but have you got access to an English wheel?...kinda expensive if ya ain't got one...and it would probably be the hardest part of this project...

check the internet for a english wheel kit, it has all the wheels, bearings, hardware, and the odd size metal.

look up Williams Low Buck Tools on the net..there's an article in Speedway Illustrated about the company..they have a new system ,I guess that would be about the best way to call it,that has an English wheel in the line-up along with about 9 other different tools that inter-changes on the main jig that you build and then bolt on the different tools..for instance a louver press,a planishing hammer, a roll former and a bunch of other stuff...I know most,if not all of the younger guys on here probably can't afford this set-up right now..maybe down the road a piece, like the saying goes..but I'll throw this info on here for the rest of the board who might be looking for a cheap system for sheet metal work...the site is www.lowbucktools.com

I'm sure you could use another method. I thought the most useful part was how they add the metal.

The start of my really wide VW fenders for the rear of my VW 5-window truck project Inside will have bamboo headliner and floors of the cab with a bench seat Bed is built and covering began in cedar. Welds still roughed in with lots of final grinding. All metal and no mud on this thing yet, trying to make sure it is a very small amout for just finish work but the rest is all steel. Let me know what you guys think. Oh and it was originally going to be chop top truck but I want it for beach trips and hauling parts truck for the kid coming up.

that looks REAL good, downright awesome. you thought about using the bed off an old ford or dodge step side truck? for the bedsides that is? looks alot like one of the old datsun trucks? should be a lot of fun once you get done

Nice work dude! I like the bug truck idea! The fenders look great!
I'm about to start welding mine hopefully this weekend. Today I had our machinist cut 3" stripes from the sheet metal I bought. I'll post the progress of the fenders. I'm thinking the later model fenders will be harder to widen because they have more curves to them.
