Awesome! That looks really good! Post some pics when you have it hooked to the bug with the split on the trailer.

wow!..that is some heavy-duty trailer,if it's made with all steel..hopefully,you'll be making some ramps for that..they would make it a heck of a lot easier to load and unload the car..if you do make ramps, don't sckimp on the length of them..I've seen people try to unload and load cars with short ramps and they always have to either jack up the trailer 5 fet in the air or use a whole bunch of lumber so the bottom of the car doesn't scrape on the trailer..just guessing here from what I can see,I'd say to make the ramps about 6 feet long..

Man, that's pretty crafty. The winch idea. Nice!

Have you figured out how you're going to hook up the trailer to the bug yet?

Man, that's pretty crafty. The winch idea. Nice! Thanks...Matt...I did it before for a short racecar trailer and it worked well. It's only good for a shorter trailer, as the arc length raises the tongue too high.

Have you figured out how you're going to hook up the trailer to the bug yet? Yes and no! The tape measure puts the tongue height at exactly where the old VW bumper hitches were; so that's close. I'll probably make a Reese style 2 in. plug in receiver so I can remove the ball when not in use. Last summer I redid the entire rear frame when I changed to an aluminum fuel cell. It's plenty strong enough to tie into for a hitch, even if I don't use the bumper. The normal concern towing would be the short wheelbase, but I've done this before. I used to tow my front engine Corvair powered Altered to the drags with my Corvair powered 1951 Bug. You can see both here:photobucket.com/albums/v385/CMD/Anything new to report on your Super? CMD

wow that turned out very nice, one question, how much u hav tied up in diamond plat lol? That was the most expensive part of the whole build. The 5ft x 12ft x 1/8 sheet, for the bed, 10in x 12ft x 1/8 and 12in x 12ft x 1/8 strips, for the fenders, and the 2 1/2 x 24ft x3/16 aluminum angle cost $380 at a surplus yard. I bought the winch ( Harbor Freight ) and stainless chain new and everything else I had leftover from old projects. The camper carcass was a " freebie " Oh yeah....1lb of stainless bolts for $7.50. The LED lights I traded some machine work for, so.... I probably have about $500 bucks invested so far, but I still want a set of cheap aluminum wheels. Aluminum is low maintenance , holds up better than paint, and looks good. Since I'll be showing off both bugs; I want the trailer to look good too. The good news is; I've already sold my old trailer, so one paid for the other! CMD Have you gotten any further with your build?

Very nice for a tag along trailer Thanks.... I like to fabricate things, so it helps " scratch the itch "! I have an enclosed trailer I rarely use anymore , now that I'm not racing. It makes a good " garage " though. CMD Any word on your chassis???
