Just draw it out on the pic, that way i can see what you want and i'll cut it out for ya.Shipping should'nt be too bad, i can ship it from work UPS.Those areas on my car are fine so i don't need that metal.then all you'll have to do is cut, grind, weld.

Sounds like a plan to me. Here's the area I need for both sides, give or take, where the factory foam traps moisture and rots the car behind the crescent fresh air vents. I'm going to weld in a piece of metal the delete the crescent moon vent but keep the crease that's behind it. That should take of that rusting problem from ever coming back and I can dig out all that foam while I have that section removed. Thanks! Let me know how much you want for shipping, your time and for the metal. I don't necessarily need the rain gutter / seam, so if you want to just cut those pieces as close the the gutter to save weight and size for shipping I'm fine by that. Let me know how you want payment too. PayPal, check, etc... Thanks again, Matt

It shouldn't be too bad. Now a chop job on the other hand... I've got a Mig welder I'm using now. As long as I tack every couple of inches, let it cool, then tack between the previous ones allowing enough cool time it should be fine. A damp towel will come in handy.

You want just the outer sheetmetal right? Or the whole piece, inside and out. It's no prob either way.I can try to do that this week.

Hey Matt, sorry, but the cut-out is postponed, rainin like hell.I hope i can get to it this weekend, I have inherited a lot of trim work and cabinets and my wife has a honeydo list a mile long. Not sayin i won't get it to ya it just may take a little longer. On a nother note, i did look @ the cut- out area, there is some substructure behind the roof bead behind the cresents, no big deal to cut it out but i was wondering about leavin the whole piece you needas one section and you can cut what u want. And the line you have is on the bend where the fender bolts to, are you gonna weld on that corner or above it?should be easy to fit it back up.

I'm in no hurry. Whenever you can get to it that'll be cool. I know what you mean. Women... That sounds good. I've never cut away that section but have seen pictures of people repairing theirs. Send what you think is best for the repair. I plan to cut right about the curve where the fender would bolt cause I have a little rust there to. Hopefully it'll all match up fine. It should. Thanks!

Latest vision of the bug. I was thinking blue, but went back to my original concept but with some C4 black vette wheels because I see so many blue supers it's not even funny. Also, last night my Mom ordered me some car parts for Christmas last night. ;D Isky cam #201278 - Advertised Duration 278/278, Lift .450/.450, 234 @ .050 lift, 106º LSA Some Z28 type valve springs to upgrade my vortec heads Shim head gasket - .015 Tranny and frame pad mounts. As I mentioned before I'm going by a recommended build by a user named F-Bird'88. The combo is a dyno proven 410 hp build. I actually found a video of how the build will sound. Here's the video. Has a nastly little idle. ;D

I had a good amount of time this weekend to get some things done. So much so I'm starting to run out of things to do body work wise... ;D I finished shaving the fenders that needed finishing. I also shaved the hood handle. I just cut off the button latch. Prepared the weld area. Bolted the handle assembly on with a little 1" square piece of 22 gauge sheet metal to fill the button hole. Welded in the handle, welded the handle to the filler piece, and that piece to the hood. I then used a cutoff wheel to cut the handle down flush. I the weld the bolts and filler metal to the outer metal of the hood. Then I ground it flush. A little body filler and block sanding. And voilà...Finished! Next, i want to delete the crescent moon vents and that should be about it body work wise. The onto building a roll bar.

The only function the button serves it to keep the hood from coming open if it's not closed completely. When you close the hood it locks into place. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about cause you have to press that lever in the glove box and the hood pops up then you press the button on the handle to completely open the hood. Basically your bypassing the second step to open the hood and you just use the lever that pops open the hood located in the glove box. I'm going to relocate that lever just inside the passenger fender so I wont have to go into the car to pop the hood. LOL! It's no problem. Get to it when you can. I'll PM you my number.

It's just under the featured ride. Click the link on the page that says "Modify Profile". If you go down you see a text field that says "avatar URL" I believe. Put the image address in that field and click the save or whatever button it is to submit your changes. I hope this helps! I guess I'll know when I see that tire on fire! ;D
