The paint job does look very nice,When do you think will have complete roller any dates or quesses Thanks! I'm hoping to have it back as a roller by the end of the month. I've already got the front suspension semi put together. I need to rent a coil spring compressor to get the springs back in. Wont be long. Then it'll be time to build the engine. ;D

did you hav any prob with it trying to run or was it pretty thick? Not really. Any runs that I do have is cause of user error. I was really putting it on thick especially in the weld areas. Other than that it went on smooth. The silver needs mixing really good because the aluminum content sinks to the bottom. So needless to say the paint got thick as I got to the bottom of the can. Overall it covers really well and a quart goes a long way. It took one quart to do two coats of silver on my frame and I was laying it on REALLY thick to make sure I got every nook and cranny and to be sure my welds are protected. The chassis black really didn't need much mixing. I painted right over the silver once it completely cured. I was able to paint the whole chassis with half a quart of chassis black. I'm going to use the other quart of silver I bought and the other half quart of chassis black to coat the inside of my fenders. Later I plan to buy another quart of silver and chassis black to do my flooring inside and the underside.

quick questions: did you use the silver base coat b4 the black?
Yes. The silver can stand alone as a final coat also as I'm keeping some parts silver (coil springs, upper control arm bolt) just to give the frame some character. ;D You could also do without putting down a coat of the silver. Using both just insures really great protection. If you use just the black you'll need to put down a couple coats. I did two coats of silver and one coat of chassis black.
was it the chassis black paint?
Yes. The chassis black is what I used and it's a glossy black chassis paint. Good stuff.
and how far did a quart go?
Half a quart covered my entire frame. Although for those hard to reach spots I used some Rust-o-leum glossy black paint so I could get to the hard to reach spots I couldn't get to with the brush. I would think if you bought two quarts of chassis black you could paint your entire frame and your floor with two coats .

Yeah, it came out nice. Now I'm afraid to scratch my chassis or to get grease all over it. LOL!

Yeah, it came out nice. Now I'm afraid to scratch my chassis or to get grease all over it. LOL! It looks SUPER.....!!! You'll probably have to " bag it " when you finish your bodywork or the overspray will ruin it. Maybe, since it'll be summer; you can push it outside. You're like me; you need a larger shop! CMD

Thanks! I sure do need a bigger shop. I'm currently purchasing a new home. Once they finished building the house I'll have more space for my project. Yeah, I'm going to bag the chassis and drive train once I finish up the body work and get to painting. I'm thinking once I get to the stage of painting I'll make a body dolly, remove the body, paint, and put it back together.

Got some work done to the bug. Actually, I put in about 10 hrs time, but it really feels like I didn't get a whole lot done. Getting in the coil springs, even with a compressor, was a real pain without the full weight of an engine or the vehicle to help, but I got it done. That took up most my time. I sand blasted the front leaf spring mounts. And some misc. parts. Misc parts painted. I didn't realize just how bad the cabinet sand blaster at my work was clogged up until our engineer saw just how slow the process was taking. We filtered out the beads, put it back in, and it worked like a champ. I kinda thought it was taking forever and it wasn't really doing a great job of removing all the rust, but what do I know? I don't do this everyday and can't really complain because my work allows me to use some of their equipment. Any who, it works much better. Here's the steering linkage sandblasted. Linkage with new tie rods installed and painted. Leaf mounts painted. You can see in this picture just how much I had to cut out of the heater channels. Quite a bit. And here's the frame as of this weekend. Control arms installed with new bushings and ball joints. Coil springs painted and installed. New shocks installed. Lowered 2" spindles. Sway bar painted and installed with new bushings and new sway linkage. Thats about as far as I got. More later.

Thanks! This weekend I plan to take the short block apart, hone the cylinders and send it off to the machine shop to get hot tanked, decked .010, and hot tanked again. Hopefully by the time I get the block back I'll have to chassis finished. The hardest part was getting those coil springs in. The rest is easy peasy.

I've made some more progress. They are baby steps, but progress. I almost have the front end completed. I install new seals, bearings, and packed them with grease. Rotors are now on. Oh yeah, and I wire brushed the dust guards and painted them. I also painted the bare metal of the 2" drop spindles. Today I sandblasted the calipers and got them completely disassembled. Next I'll give them I good cleaning inside with some break cleaner and install the new caliper kits I purchased. I'll post pics soon.
