I have been looking at other options for a v8 bug or just a different type of setup then a regular bug. I find that the toyota mr2 has a wheelbase of 91.3 inches, 6.2 inches off of a super beetle, or 3.2 off of a regular bug. Anyone thing you could use the chassis out of one of these for a mid engine setup? I know this isn't a v8 but it was just a thought.

Just to clear things up. I think many posts ago I said the super beetle has a 3" longer wheelbase. Well, come to find out that's not true. Whatever source I got that from was wrong. I actually measured the wheelbase and also Wikipedia has the correct info, but the wheelbase of the super beetle (1303, which what mine is) is only 3/4" longer. So the total wheelbase is 95.25". Just a heads up!

Beetles have a 94.5" wheelbase (2400mm). Add that extra .75 and you get 95.25.

The wheel could've been turned slightly? Either way 1/2" difference isn't noticeable.

ya it may have been, but the new frame still fits under there pretty well.
