Hi, New guy here. Couldn't you use the front and rear sub frames of a NOVA or Camaro. I mean, Because you could change the wheel base just by making different length connectors your self right.

I'm sure you could make it work. This guy welded two frames together to make his. The front sub frame is a Chevy Nova II and the rear is a Ford Bronco II. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wg-78OD5qHs

Ya, Cool. Thanks for the insight on that Idea. I was thinking about it again, and got this idea. Ya you would have to shorting it but wouldn't the frame of a Model A or T work. I know there not wide. It's the frames lenght thats the problem. All you have to do is decide weather you wont to leave it front leaf, or convert it to A arm.

Yeah, you would definitely have to widen the fenders to cover the wheels or your bug would look like a G-ride. It's all preference, budget and what'll make you happy in the end. There's so many ways you could do it. Using a frame design like a Model as a base for your frame design will work great and you could use either the leaf or A arm setup. With the leaf setup you'll have to keep in mind that the front suspension uses a ladder bar or four link setup that mounts to the side of the frame about mid way.
So it's preference really. Most everyone on this board has done their frame different from one another.

ya you could go with a modle t or a but i dont know how the frame would hold up to a 300hp v8, and im pretty sure the nova would be way to wide.

you would have to brass the model a or t frame to handle the high HP but its all good.

If you build the frame out of rectangular tubing it should be fine. If it's an original frame, then it's recommended to box the frame.

rather than trying to track down a old model t frame i would just build a simple one out of tubing, it would be way cheaper too

I've been working on some drawings, for modding the Model T frame and making a frame. I like both but until I start the process of building the Car It's undecided for now.
I have decided on what engine and trans to put in it. A Chevy 283 with a "8" carb intake, with a mild cam, bore it .30 over, have a three way valve job done, and port and polish the heads. I'm having the trans rebuilt with more aggressive components and a shift kit. The diff is going to be a Dana 60 with 3.56 gears and a rock crawling selectable locker, that so I can decided when I want both or just one wheel to burn the rubber.

where are you going to find rims small enough to fit under the fenders and yet big enough for a dana 60?

I'm pretty sure there are after-market Model T frames out there that are already beefed up to handle whatever engine you want to use. and suspension too.depends on your budget I guess... ;D

they make a viriety of custom frames for hot rods but 4k is alot to pay 4 a frame ur just going to cut up and shorten.
