Hey just want some ideas on how some of you guys have your cooling system setup? I have a 400ci big block mopar with 727 trans, and running 4.10 gears in the rear (ford 8.8") I have 1 electric fan that flows 2500cfm and another small cooler underneath the car near the rear I still have issues with over-heating, the radiator is in front btw and don't have room for a bigger one, already pretty much touchin the steering box any sugguestions? thanks Attachments:

Have you tried any cooling additives, like water wetter? Are the fans both pulling the same direction? Do a smoke test and see if they are circulating the hot air instaed of flowing through the engine compartment. Cool mopar bug.

Also, try moving your trans/oil cooler away from the front of the main rad. Might be blocking fresh air from getting in.

I was thinking of getting a trans cooler of jegs for like 40 bucks that mounts to the frame rail, but finding a spot is my next challenge for that. Have been looking up fan shrouds as well as electric water pumps. I have not tried water wetter. But did try a different mix 70% water 30% coolant and it worked better for awhile. Thought I fixed it until I took it for a 40min drive with some highway and stop and go. Have been doing a lot of hard research because I have to go to a car show that's an hour from me and I have a VIP spot and chance to get in a magazine, and I don't have a truck to trailer or haul it there. Nor do I wanna pay someone to.

And a champion alm. radiator. the separate cooler I have under the car isn't big and doesn't have a fan on it. I have a feeling its useless but ... not sure

If the small cooler in that pic is for.engine oil then maybe move it. And even a small amount of air will help cool the oil. If your trans doesnt have one,it should. Trans heat kills.

Trans heat kills. that small one in the front is for the trans. was thinking bout picking up a frame mounted trans cooler but I don't think I have room on my frame for it haha. my dad suggested getting rubber or foam spacer to put inbetween the trans cooler and rad. so theres space that air can get to. but not sure how much that will help if any. thought I had the cooling figured out one time, by having more water then coolant, but ended up only working in low humidity weather

if you're needing to just get to a car show an hour away, why not just pull the hood off? And maybe punch some louvers in the hood as well. I know you have the scoop, but since it faces forward, that is just pushing air,not pulling it out like louvers would. Also, make sure you're radiator is bled (which I'm sure it is),and take out the thermostat. I had a 396 that would run maybe 140* without the thermostat in. I found this out as I was freezing I disagree off in the winter and wondering why in the hell my truck's heater was blowing cold lol.

Well ive decided to go with a small block and then I'll have more room for a bigger radiator, and will set it up like a corvette rad, slanted and will have electric fans on that. Was also suggested for current setup to raise the hood near the back so heat can escape from there as well. Have a car show in may at pocono raceway that I am going to. Its about a 2 hour drive so I'm changing my gears to 3.27s from my 4.10s. Probably wont have small block setup ready though. So am also going to try Water wetter.
