So I've recently come across a stock 440 for dirt cheap, complete engine and comes with trans. But I've been wanting to change out my 400ci mopar big block for a small block mopar to save room and weight. Then id have to change everything, transmission, driveshaft, mounts, etc. And wanted to add a big turbo (70mm) to the small block just for fun. But im not sure, cuz that's a lot of money lol. Just tired of dealing with all the problems my 400ci is giving me. if I could id just buy a crate engine and call it a day. Not sure itd be worth rebuilding the 400 and getting alm. heads to save weight.
OR do a stroker build with my current 400 maybe go to 440 source and stroke to 470 or 500
Suggestions?

There is no replacement for displacement. Change is good. I just finished my small block build, was driving the car, and gathered the parts i needed to do a big block swap. Now EVERYTHING i did has to be redone. Seriously, it would be easier to build a different car. Im looking at a camaro z28 for the 454, and since i sold the 350, im thinkin turbo 4.3 in the bug (if i even keep it) I had lots of cooling issues, steering issues, and it was uncomfortable to sit in for more than 30 min. On the track, did great, but not enough power. More cubes is more heat, you got issues now? It will get worse till you fix it. Good luck.

Also, just a thought. I dumped a pile of money and time in doin this build, it was fun. At the same time, for almost eight years i have been IMPROVING my designs and constantly making tuning changes. If you change one thing, then another, another and so on.

Yeah I feel like starting a new build from scratch would be easier haha yeah im still trying to figure out how im going to get a fan shroud in there to see if that helps any. And now I think a tooth chipped off the starter!! never ends
