hi!! i'm new here..hehe find this site very helpful!! thanks!! i'm planning to build a front engine bug but with a smaller engine, an inline 4 cylinder diesel engine. anyone familiar with an Isuzu Gemini? i would like to use the chassis and engine of the Gemini to fit the body of the bug. would this fit? another question in my mind is that should the hood of the bug have openings for the vent if the engine in front and water cooled? thanks again!! dex

What year? Don't they kinda look like a sportier Geo Metro?
Isn't that a front wheel drive car? If so you could just stick the engine, tranny, and what not in the back seat / luggage location too (where the rear wheels are at, w/ modification of coarse).
Just a thought......

only bad part about the 4 banger, is it just doesnt have the raw horse power that the v8 has, the kind of horsepower that makes u all tingly inside just after u step on that gas pedal.

The kinda that puts you back in your seat and you get out with a smile on your face. And it doesn't sound like fart cans either.

If I were to do a small engine I would just go with sticking in a RX-7 rotary engine using an adapter plate and you're done. 150 hp bug ready to go and you have the potential of getting up to 300 hp out of it, easily, and the weight of your car would still be about 1700 lbs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEQe5239Ky8
