What class are you going to run in, and at what track? That's a BAD@$$ setup, I like the fuel injection.

The road racing events I would attend are what they call "open track days"... It is just for spirited fun just like going to the drag strip on a "test and tune" day... They send you out in groups divided by "experience" level. They are groups designated by colors: Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Black. Each color denotes that you have more and more experience in handling your car and the cars around you. They send out groups for "hot laps" that last about 20 minutes at a time. There are MANY tracks around the country. They have 7-8 tracks in Texas and one in Louisiana. The one track over here is about 45 minutes away from my house. Also, autocrosses are held in many towns. I will have to run in some "modified" class with them. Drag strips for "test and tune" and bracket racing are everywhere. They also have "driving schools" at these road courses where you get instructions from a guy riding with you teaching braking points, apexes, etc.

how different are the tech inspections for road course vs. drag?

For these particular events they aren't bad at all. They want to make sure everything is tied down, secure, and nothing loose in the car. If you have a convertible you have to have a roll cage. Other than that its just basic safety stuff. Naturally, I will have a full roll cage in the car.

I saw your past couple of updates on the protouring forum, looks very nice! When will all the parts be put together?

I would love to see this on the course. does the shift on the steering, does that mean that it's like push button 6 speed? I'm not very familiar with road course type setups. Mine is being setup with a trans-break,shift pak, and a manual valve body, so i control the gears. is that how yours works?

Yeah, the transmission is a push-button or paddle-shifting situation... there is no shifter any more. I have a manual reverse valve-body in the transmission. It doesn't shift until I shift it... It doesn't have a "Drive" position. It stays in whatever gear I put it in until I shift it.

I saw your past couple of updates on the protouring forum, looks very nice! When will all the parts be put together? After 13 weeks I am STILL waiting on my new Wilwood brakes! My patience is growing thin... It is really holding up my progress. When they come in I will make a long trip to Mobile to get all the welding projects completed. We have to do some front and rear suspension work as well as adding some more bars to the roll cage. Hopefully, progress will be coming soon...
