What would be best ?
The car is going to be mainly street use but will see strip action as well.
Would you suggest going for a 4 Link setup or Ladder Bars ?
Cheers,
Si

4 Link and Ladder bar suspension both have their Strengths and weaknesses. Ive always ran double adjustable ladder bar suspension on all my cars and to be honest, its much easier to adjust and the suspension works very well. I have owned 1 other car with 4 link suspension and didnt have any problem with it but ladder bars is probably the cheaper way to go. Only Down fall to ladder bar suspension is that I think it rides rougher on the street then a 4 link does. Which every way you decide to go, you should be happy with it.

From my understanding the 4-link hooks better but it's harder to set them up and they're more expensive.

True, they are more expensive if you buy a set from summit or jegs but if you make a set yourself it's not that bad, Use 1" pipe or square tubing , Ihave a book @ home that I've been reading,http://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Sports-Little-%C2%A3250/dp/1859606369/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218465878&sr=1-1 It shows you how to make the 4-link with a panhard bar just need to make it a little heavier for more power and weight. My freind in the U.K. built one of these with a v-8 and he races the dang thing! ON A ROAD COURSE!! this is the info I'm gonna use to make my 4- link. From the summit catalog you can get a kit for $300. then you have to buy the rod ends for another $400. Ican make a 4-link for about$100.This book also shows you how to make upper & lower control arms for your front end out of 3/4" seamless pipe. If I hadn't seen this system work on a real car I wouldn't beleive it, It's very strong and very cheap to build.

I hate this stupid computer!!!! I can't seem to get it to add the link for the book. That other address isn't even a link, but i copied it from the webpage! Anyway the book is written by Ron Champion How to build a sportscar and race it, It's good common sense reading.

Thanx , I'm not that computer savy yet. I took my parts to the machine shop yesterday so i'll have some parts to work with soon. I'm having polyurethane bushings made for my ladder bar system. I talked to a couple of drag racers and they said that ladder bars are easier to setup but they hook better on the track than a 4-link.

Easier to set up is definitely a plus point However, the car is going to see more street action thatn 'proper' racing.

For the street, I'd go with the 4-link then, it will make a smoother ride. I'm just lookin to make some good solid passes. ( I'm still thikin about makin it street legal !!)
