Hey Guys, I am currently building a 86 Mexi-beetle with a 302-c4 combo. I have chopped the top completely off and removed the fenders. I took my modified dirt car chassis and cut the front of and fabricated the rest of the frame. I am using a for 9" stock width. I am running 27.5 hoosier a-40 tires on steel wheels to give it a low wide stance so it will look differnet from all the traditional skin fron wide rear rods. I will post some pics a soon as I can.

Awesome! Sounds like a cool setup. Sure does make it easier if you don't worry about making your rear fit under fender, or widening fenders. I wanna see that 302 in your bug. Different...is kewl

yeah, it does sound cool with a 302, makes for easier timing ajustments. I wanna see the frame, is it tubing or box or stock?

hey mock1, a IMCA dirt modified uses ,usually. a Camaro front stub and 2X4 rectangular steel for the chassis..it will be interesting to see what extreme has for the front suspension...I presume that it's a IMCA-style mod...

Well, a camaro front clip is wider than an s-10 so the stance will be wider ,but unless he swaps out the control arms for tubular arms and down sizes his springs ,and maybe even drops it , the front will ride high because of the lack of weight. he would also maybe need to do a rack & pinion because the camaro steering box is massive. It should be an interesting build, definatly doable , the camaro sub frame is in two peices so cutting off the front and modifying it for a tube frame is not much different than an s-10 swap. Still gonna be cool to see another builders ideas about chassis construction.

Oh yeah, also depends on what he's gonna do with it in the end, drag, road course, street, or all of the above. Each style has it's own setup, with a camaro front clip, I'd road course it.

The more ideas or ways of approaching a V8 bug build the better for future builders whom come across this site. There's plenty way to build one. Guess it just depends on what's available and how deep your pockets are. I remember seeing a V8 bug on The Samba that used a toyota tacoma frame. I'd still like to see some build one using a Ford Bronco II and a 302. The Bronco II has a very close wheelbase to that of a VW beetle. Bronco II wheelbase is 94". Regular beetle is 94.5. The frame would need to be lowered of coarse. Like I said, many ways to build one.

The front clip is a 73-77 impala narrowed 4.5 inches with stock lowers and remounted aftermarket uppers. The frame is 3x1.5 box tubing. As soon as I figure out how to post a picture i will, or if you want I can email them to you. We bent the tubing for part of the roll cage and I plan to start installing it this weekend.

Hey xtreme86x! Here's a good write up on how to post the pictures. carmensbugs.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=gendisc&action=display&thread=55You basically create an account with photobucket.com and upload your pictures to the site. When you do you'll see these lines of code you can copy and paste into forums or a web page. It'll say above the code what each line of code is for. See the link above, it'll help you visually before you even go through the process.
