Very nice project! If you don't mind me asking a few questions, how wide is you front suspension from wheel flange to wheel flange and what is the distance center of hole to center of hole between the two mounting bolts for the steering rack?
I have a Mustang II front end and it has a Flaming River rack that's 3" narrower than stock.

Paul. What type of crossmember are you using? Are you going to be running manual or power steering? Tom

Looking really good! Looks like you'll have to cut away more of the truck to clear the intake, carb, and breather.

:)Thanks. Next thing is installing the transmission crossmember and radiator. Coming together, slow but sure.

Hi Tom, I'm using a manual rack. When I measured a stock power rack that I had laying around I came up with a 3.5" difference on my new rack. I have an Art Morrison crossmenber. I was curious how wide your front end was.
I love how your car is coming along.

Paul. I am using a manual rack. I'll get you some measurements tomorrow. What kind of chassis are you using?

It's my own chassis. I'm mounting the V8 in the middle using an Audi A4 transaxle. I have a thread on it here. It's the '54 Mid Engine car. I've had to slow down on it for economic reasons but hope to be moving forward soon.

I hear you about economic reasons. I have been in the car business all of my life, except for four years that I worked for the government ha,ha(U.S.Air Force, Strategic Air Command 1965-1969). Started as a VW mechanic the day I came home from overseas in 1969. Graduated to Porsche/Audi. Got tired of braking my knuckles so took a job as a shop foreman, on to service advisor and service manager. Went with Lexus as a service manager. I was what Lexus called the 1st "wave" of service managers. Finally ended up as a service advisor with Chevrolet. Got laid off this past October and decided to say the hell with it and retired. Enjoying every minute of it

Do you know off hand how wide the inside dimension is on your frame in the front and rear? Im doing a v8 with a four link in the rear on my bug and Ive stretched the body 8 inchs so I can sit in the stock position. I dont have an engine or rearend yet to use for mock up so I havent gotten the framerails welded up yet. The frame under the passenger compartment will widen out to the body but be more narrow up front and out back. Your build looks good thanks for any help

Darrell. I will be working on my project tomorrow and will get you some measurements. I am using a narrowed 9" Ford, triangulated 4 bar rear end.
