Hello everyone, I had a little time to update my website on our V8 Beetle Project so I figured I’d give you guys an updated, post some pictures and share the link to my site.
We Bought an S-10 about a month ago and I finally am getting around to putting up pictures. Tonight I just finished up stripping the S-10 down to the chassis, and Next I’ll need to shortend the chassis and then hopefully I’ll be able to get the 350 mounted and get it running again, its pretty much complete, just needs a power steering pump.
I’m posting a few pictures but I put up more on my website. To see them go to my site www.zbcreations.com and click on the beetle banner at the bottom. I put new pictures in the engine, and chassis sections, I also updated the Cost page.
Here is the latest picture of the 350.
Here is the S-10 I picked up for $400. I think the aluminum rims will look alright on the beetle so I’m thinking of cleaning them up and using them….. If Not I’m sure I can sell them. So far I’ve sold the engine/tranny/computer for $75.00, heater contols for $5 and radiator for $15 and What I don’t sell in the next week is getting scrapped.
To be able to fit everything in my garage I had to pull the bed off of the truck and sit the back half of the beetle on the frame. Without too much work we could have mounted the half of the beetle to the frame and did a little cutting and welding and had "interested" ride... LOL
Here I started stripping down the S10
Just before I pulled the engine and tranny.
With the front of the truck pulled off it sure made pulling the engine and tranny easy. I just disconnected everything put a chain fall on the engine, lifted it up and pushed the truck out from under it.
I ran out of room to put parts, but luckly I WAY overbuilt my router table, it made a good engine stand... LOL.
Here's the truck after I stripped basically everything off of and out of the cab.
Here I have the S-10 stripped down to the chassis. With all the stuff out of the cab it was pretty easy to get it off of the chassis, although the front cab mounts fought me a little. I ended up braking a brand new socket trying to break loose one of the front mouts, so I ended up getting a 6' pry bar and ripping them out of the floor of the cab... LOL
To get the cab off of the frame I just lifted one side up and stuck a couple 2x4's under it and then lifted up the other side and let it slide to the ground. I then rolled the cab up on it side and pushed the chassis into the garage and rolled the cab back down.
Well that’s about it for now…..
