I just cut, pulled the two halves together, used a straight edge / my eyeball, one c clamp at each joint and welded! LOL! The way I did it there really wasn't much to it because of how it all came together. I just shortened it at the factory welds. Only problem with doing it the way I did compared to hellraiser is you have to cut into the heater channels to get the body to drop over the frame. That is if you want it to. I pretty much did a body drop with mine so I wont have to lower the chassis keeping the stock frame / ride height yet giving it a lowered appearance!

when i did mine, it all kinda fell together pretty easily, but we still measured a hundred times and made sure everything was level before we welded. the way i did mine, its kinda hard to explain how i did it and now that its done, out of all the people ive asked none of them can piont out where i cut it lol. i think ive got pics of it all on my page.

well yesterday i managed to pick up some interior parts. the guy that i work with was hauling off an RV from the mid 70s. it was a large low milage dodge rv. anyhow, it had a few good parts. it had the metal cupholders, like boats have that swivel AND pivot. it had two school bus style plastic tinted visors, that im gonna narrow and use. and it also had the schoolbus style drivers electric fans that have about a 5 inch cage, and a decent size motor. hadnt planned on all the cushy comforts, but they up and found me. this ought to get my interior about halfway lined out.

well its not so much the engine that concerns me.......... its the fact that the glasspacks are going right up against the headers, and then they are going to stop right there at the end of the muffler. IMONNA invest in some good earplugs...... and hang them from the rearview. thataway i can still hear myself yell over the roar of the engine , after i get where i am going ;D what?......WHAT???............... I CANT HEAR YOU.......WHAT?hear me before you see me. chris

haha, it would probly be worth it to run the glass packs a lil farther back, or invest in exhaust cut outs, so that it will be loud when u want it and quiet when u want it.

well i went and picked up my rims today, got a pair of 15x5 for the front and 15x10 weld draglites for the rear. ordered my tires for the rear, which ought to be a week out. as soon as they show up i can start in on the measurements for the rear end. the tires i ordered are bf goodrich 295 50 15s whiteletters (of course) seems alot of you guys are running the welds, but i had been eyeballing them for a while already. SO. soon as the tires show up i can get them mounted, and then i can start carving the 9 inch to fit. getting there...................SLOWLY

LOL! Right!
Cool! Did you get the star or dial style?
I've got a dumped flow on my dodge 3.7L, just behind the cab and it makes some pretty loud interior resonance. I couldn't imagine how loud the packs would be dumped right before where you sit! Would be cool at first but become annoying after riding for extended periods of time.

im figuring that the exhaust ought to dump just behind the seat. i am going to cheapskate my way out on the exhaust and do it that way. the LAST time i checked with an exhaust shop, they told me it would run over 150ish to put duals on a 71 chevy, and dumps before the tires. simple right?? well that was after i had told them that i had the mufflers and the header collectors. ................SO after getting that qoute i have since decided to weld my mufflers directly to the collectors, and use a short length of chain welded to the muffler to bolt to the frame. something much more solid than what they would supply. i just dont like the idea of paying that much money to have something that i could just as easily do. and as for it being loud........ AFTER A WHILE YOU DONT EVEN HEAR IT ANYMORE ;D earplugs.
the weld draglites that i got are the dials. id been eyballing them for about the last two years. it JUST happens that they are on a lot of the v8 bugs that i see. anyhow i like the look.
if you can still hear the radio........ you need more engine. ;D -chris

Both styles are nice! Radio? The sound of the V8 will be enough to listen to! I might possibly put gauges where the radio goes.

yeah the engine is PLENTY to listen to. im always listening for that out of the ordinary clack or clatter thats just not quite right. im kind of used to driving junk, and doing the basic walk around whenever i stop ANYWHERE. im going to have lots to listen to. solid roller lifters, and floating wristpins. plenty of new clicks and clatters to get used to. i havent decided what i want to do on gauges. its a matter of having the essentials. tach, oil pressure and temp. those have managed to help save a few of my engines. so those are in...... ............how ghetto would a tach look hanging down from the rearview mirror? ;D
