just make sure that you dont tell them what it is actually going in. i made that mistake ONCE. i usually decide what part it is that i want, and figure out what it came on, then stick to THAT story. mmmmm yes.. i need steel shim head gaskets for my 1967 corvette.........yeah

yeah, i getcha. ive been big on chevys for a while, mainly because they dont redesign everything all the time like ford has a habit of doing. im just saying that it ought to fit. i wonder how far off a bronco2 chassis is lengthwise? I never thought of the bronco, because I'm a chevy guy too, but the Ford Bronco II's wheelbase is almost the exact same as a bug. Bronco II wheelbase : 94" Standard Beetle: 94.5" There's a youtube video under V8 bug pics, the green bug, and the guy used a Nova II front clip and a Bronco II rear clip. That would be cool and a little different to see someone build a V8 bug solely using a Bronco II chassis and use a 302 for the engine.

Yeah, it's for a 94 S10. I don't go into it's for my 94 frame for my V8 bug. They look at you funny cause they don't know what's going on. It makes for interesting conversation if you'd like to talk about it, but most of the time I like to get in and out. ;D

well got my carb from flea-bay. woot predator for $130. now i'm just waiting on the carb overhaul kit to come in. should be here in about a week. found out there is a rebuild kit for about $30 and an overhaul kit for about $80. considering how cheap i got the carb and how gummed up from old gas. i went ahead and went for the overhaul kit. price list total oval bug body $177 s10 with v8 already done $1000+84 s10 i got for free-$800 i sold my motorcycle for= $200 carb $130 carb overhaul kit $80 electric fan $35 total so far= $622 (not bad seeing as how i now have just about everything) i am hoping to have the whole project done for under $2000

cool !! I like your design idea looks like a rat rod !! I tried to do a cheap build too, but still ended up spending $3000 ( cheap parts, broke had to replace, stupid mistakes, having to get stuff i had'nt thought of befor the build, and because of that i'm having to backup and start rebuilding a lot of stuff that didn't work right. But it looks like you lucked up and found the right stuff pretty cheap, good luck!

ya i think i got arround $300 in mine but dont have everything yet lol dont let a low buy in cost be the most important part of your build. spend money where you have to. around here (next to the house) most parts are either broken or overpriced, but you can trade for them. i usually dont feel like getting up off my stash of parts, because the kids looking for what i do have are downright destructive. their parts usually last about a week before it gets OVER'ed. i had this friend, was putting together an 85 v8 s10. his BIG claim to success was his cash outlay on it. i dont remember the exact number, but it was supposedly around $50. what he had done was trade for most of his parts. shortblock was a 305, he had picked up the pistons from another guy, and they were all mismatched. 3 different engines of pistons, reused lifters on a big preused cam, good g series heads off a 305. a beat up quadrajet. now so far this isnt too bad, but when he started trying to bum preused sparkplugs and wires JUST so that he could claim a low buy in price on his project...... it was just too far. he had a large tube of caulk, and instead of buying gaskets caulked EVERYthing. timing cover, intake manifold, oil pan, valve covers...... EVERYTHING. he messed up on the assembly in the shortblock, and overtightened the mains (used an impact wrench instead of a torquewrench.) ................... it was a mess. now dont misunderstand me, nothing wrong with getting your car built inexpensively, but dont get too cheap. dont let the cost invested be the end all be all of the build, and dont feel bad about spending money where you need to. hey stayned, thats some nice progress you gots going there.
