Here's another shot of the rear "fire wall". Did some more welding last night, but ran out of wire. Gotta slowly weld it up so it doesn't warp to crap. On a side note, here's my collection of "Summit Racing's" line of paint and tools to get the job done. Being I'm on a tight budget, I plan to paint the car myself and having heard good things about it, I decided to give it a try. For $400, what can go wrong painting your first car. ;D I have... - Sanding blocks
- Rolls of various grit of sand paper, some where in there.
- HVLP gun
- Epoxy primer (galon)
- 2K high build primer (galon)
- Hugger Orange, single stage (galon)
- Black, single stage (galon)
- High Solids clear coat (galon)
The rest is their activators, hardeners, surface wash, and wax / grease remover. I also have a quart of Master Series chassis coating for the engine bay and for under the deck lid. Here's a recent article about the paint. If that chick can do it, I can. And yes, the chick in the picture actually painted the car. Read the article. ;D www.popularhotrodding.com/tech/1003phr_1966_ford_mustang_project_street_fighter_paint_job/summit_racing_paint.html

Thanks, Chris. I wish I could put the battery there. I can't though because the two mufflers are there. What do you think about a sub battery box made out of 14 gauge steel, welded into the rear 14 gauge fire wall, kinda off center towards the passenger side, with an access door? I'm thinking that'll work.

Just had a I thought. What if I mounted it just above the mufflers where that plate is. (the plate I was going to use to make my cage a bolt in)? Hmm...wonder how hard it would be to get to it?

Finished welding the rear firewall, sealed it up, and put down a coat of Master Series. I just need to put down another coat of Master Series to make sure it's all nice and sealed. Now I just need to button up little things and it'll be ready for body work and paint!

Haha, cool! I'm going to see how much of a PITA it'll be to get it in there and make it work.

Here's the space at work I'm thinking I could use to paint the car, if not my garage. I could make a temporary both and use their pneumatic system. Here's where I could tap in. There's a moisture trap that goes into the sandblaster cabinet. And I'm sure their system will be plenty cause these pneumatic balloon presses, packaging machines, and latex balloon making machines (not pictured cause it reeks like harsh chemicals) run off it all day long. Literally. If I went this route I wouldn't have to find a 60 gal compressor and I don't have to worry about neighbors. Just the thugs around here. LOL.

I'd go with usin the shop equipment so you have the air, volume, regulator, and the water separator already together. That and it looks like there is much more room than a garage. Thugs? You guys have an open carry law there, right? pack some heat and you wont have a problem.

I'm going to ask for permission just as soon as I get the chance. They've been pretty awesome about helping me thus far. Good thing the whole place is fenced in. A worker here got shot during the graveyard shift, but it was kinda his own dumb fault. We do have an open firearm law. The owner of the company brings his hand gun every day in a carrying case. I might bring mine just incase when I paint on the weekend. I'll have my Dad and Uncle (the painter) with me that day. So all's good.

Chitty chitty bang bang. ;D If I place it where I thinking about placing it now, I have to access it by crawling under the car. Luckily, I can still manage to squeeze under the car as low as it looks. It's pretty much stock S10 truck frame height, but with 2" drop spindles upfront.

Still plugging away trying to get it ready for body work. Guess I kinda already started some of the body work. ;D Replaced the rust holes in the driver's side fender. The passenger was good to go. They both needed a little hammer and dolly work, which I took care of, to get the "bolt lip" straight. Cut bad areas out. Welded in new steel and ground down the welds. A couple holes in the light driver's side light bucket. Coated the inner fender with Master Series. Need to get more cause I ran out. More after the weekend as I... Finish the hood Make an alternator bracket Make a radiator hose hanger And make a battery tray to relocate it in the back. Hopefully I can get all that done this weekend.

if you want easy access to boost your battery so you dont have to crawl under your car to boost it or anything you can run a cable to were ever you want and you can buy a teminal to attach to the end of it that way you can pretty much stuff it in the corner under the hood or were ever you want it really.
