Thats a little overkill ... Not really. You should see how UPS handles some packages. I've had to send back major engine components shipped through UPS cause they got damaged during shipping. Crankshaft and a head.

Man, I wish. I'm starting to get irritated between the amount of time it's taking to get the body right and there just not being enough time to get it done. I just want to be done with paint already. Just as soon as I think I have it straight another low spot shows up. Just as soon as I think I have plenty of time to finish the bondo work and lay down some primer something comes up. Baby showers, holidays, birthdays, having to help the sister-in-law move... On a positive note, the body is really taking shape. There's some spots that really need a body man's touch, but all the time I'm spending getting it nice and flat now means it wont be in the primer / block sanding stage very long. I also tested out the two HVLP guns I have and I really got a handle on how to adjust the air pressure, fan and material flow on these things. I also managed to figure out a very cheap way to dry the air in the lines, with some help of coarse. I'll take pictures of how it's setup, but I just bought a second 50 ft air hose, I coil one of them into a cheap $1 foam cooler and then fill it up with ice. I then have a moister trap / filter between the two lines. The air now comes out nice and dry, AND I have a place to put my beer and water while I work on this thing. ;D I'll have some updates soon. Body work has just been eating up all my time.

It's been a little while since an update. I don't have pictures at the moment, but I'll get them tonight. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as body work goes. I put down the last skim coat on a couple problem areas and it'll be ready for high-build primer. I aiming for this weekend. Also, during the 4th of July weekend, I had a baby shower for our friends and of course everyone wanted a ride. I was happy to oblige. Only problem was the car started running hot. There's four reason why. 1. The hose that goes from the plumbing to the radiator was the wrong size, so when the pressure would build in the system it would leak water out. 2. I stupidly put the overflow outlet where the inline water neck is, by the engine, and when it was running hot the other night rusty water was spraying all over my engine and not returning to the radiator so it could cool. Yeah, I hadn't put a overflow tank on so that's my bad. 3. Up until this point I've still be running water, which in itself will keep the car cool, but coolant would greatly help. 4. My radiator has 3 pin holes from when the guys welded up my exhaust and the plumbing. Needless to say, I got a few parts to fix this problem and I cleaned all the rusty water off of the engine. I already had the new radiator waiting, so I installed that. I got the correct size radiator hose no more leaking there. I installed a 160º high flow thermostat. I moved the overflow spout to the radiator, plugged the inline water neck and I I also put a higher rating radiator cap on the inline neck. The inline neck has an 20 psi cap and the radiator has a 20 psi cap. So far so good. While I was cleaning up the engine I went ahead and put in some better spark plugs and installed some new header gaskets cause the crappy paper ones were leaking a little. I also put in some coolant, finally. It took about 1 1/2 gallons of straight coolant. So my system holds probably a little over 3 gallons. I fired the car up, topped off the system and the car runs sooooo much cooler which makes the engine happy. The car used to sit a 190º and would go up to 210º, which isn't too bad. Now it constantly sits between 160º and 190º. I have yet to see it go past 190º driving around with the fan off. I kick on the fan and the temp drops to 160-170º. I'll have pics tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to have it in primer this weekend.

Sounds like you got it worked out.
You ever feel like we're already racin...
to see who's gonna get finished first ?

I see you've got something done and it motivates me to get more done. So, yeah, I do at times. Just before you posted this I was thinking, "How cool would that be to race one another on the drag strip?" ;D That would be lots of fun. We're both so very close to finishing. I'm sure even when I'm "finished", I wont really be finished.

Yeah maybe we motivate each other, cause like you said, when you get something done it makes me want to get something done.

Here we are, some pictures. ;D Some of the things I've been working on lately. I made brackets for my locking hood pins. Everything was lining up great. The passenger side was slightly off after welding up everything. I tried to bend it a little and the pin broke. I figured, no problem, I can weld it on. Little did I know it's made out of aluminum. Figures why it broke so easily. So I have to buy a whole new kit just so I can redo the passenger side. Oh well. The locking units mocked up. The good pin. And the jacked up one that'll need redoing. My new replacement radiator. I had to replace it cause when the guys welded up my exhaust / plumbing, some slag put pin holes in it. Here you can see where the water was leaking out. See the rust from the leak. If you look at the inlet, you'll see it was leaking there too cause I had the wrong size hose. So I replaced it with the correct size. You can see just how much the hose was pinched and it still didn't seal. No more leaks here. I also moved the overflow outlet to the radiator in the rear and I capped off the inline water neck. Now hot rusty water doesn't spew on my engine. I also installed a 20 psi can on the inline neck. The radiator has 18 psi cap. I might go a little lower, just incase. Having replaced the radiator, fixed the hose leak, all the water gets back to the radiator, and not on my engine. I also installed a high flow 160º thermostat and I finally put in a 50/50 mix of coolant / water. The engine runs a constant 160-190º. I'll never have overheating issues again, I hope. Onto body work. I just need to finished sanding down a few skim coats I put down the make her as flat as I can possibly get at this stage. These are the problem areas I'm still working on. If I'm not too tired from our Saturday night gig I'll get a temporary booth setup and I'll spray some high build primer. More updates soon.

LOL, I've actually had people say they like the look of the blue, primer, and bondo. Maybe if it originally had a cool patina look, but naw, I want it shiny!!! Flat black has crossed my mind during this body work stage. Geezz, a lot of work! It's getting there though. Slowly.
