It's gettin there... a lot closer then mine, paint that is. Shoot, yours looks cool as is. What are your plans for paint? Ha! Thanks, once I get all the "bugs" worked out and i know it's all good, I'm gonna tear it down and finish the welding, grinding, filling, and get it to the body shop for all the sanding and priming. I'm gonna go with the flat Hot Rod black with the doors and rear quarter, gloss black.

Its lookin good man! are you gonna be doin flat black? thats what my plans are for mine its just a long way off. i want to do a flat back coat all over and maybe a gloss racin stripe. but it sounds like youve been doin alot of work on yours. its kinda a bummer about thos coolent problems but looks like youve got them all worked out Thanks! I had thought about flat black cause it's easy to maintain and looks cool. Here's how I plan to paint it. One of the reasons it's taking so long to do body work is you have to get the body perfect for a glossy black paint job or it'll show up in the paint BIG time.

There was this car on a show called "Pinks All Out" that was all flat black with glossy black wheels. It looked tight. I had thought about doing that scheme at one point.

You might as well tear it all down and do that paint scheme on the inside too, that would look too cool. An orange engine bay with the black and aluminum engine, sweet!

I had thought about that. I'm only hesitant cause it'll be driven often and I wonder how filthy the orange would get? Like this, but with orange.

Yeah, it would be black. Black wouldn't look as bad after years of use. One of the reasons I didn't paint my block orange.
I have some Master Series chassis paint / undercoating I plan to use. It's resistant to brake fluid, fuel, oil, etc. I'm not too sure how that hugger orange Summit paint would hold up to such fluids should I get a little leak or something.

I'm on the fence. I love the idea of the orange engine bay, but...the reasons above.

honestly tho as much as we all work on these things if you want to do it orange then how much harder would it be to wipe it off while your workin on the engine? but personally ive always likes a black engine bay regardless but its gonna look sick whatever you do...

True, but it's still more maint. that'll have to be done. I might do the orange and leave the engine in. There's plenty of room to shoot around it. I will have to remove the alternator though, which is no problem.
I've also been thinking about how that transition would look. With the top being black, engine bay orange, I would have two strips of black down the quarter when I pull the hood. I don't know how to explain it better. Decisions, decisions...

I think it would look sweet ;D You only been working on this car for two years, go for broke! i thought about the engine bay gettin dirty too but as long as it doesnt get wet there should be no probs keepin it wiped off. I think you've done a great job so far,and cant wait to see it in color.

Now I just need to smooth out the engine bay panels with filler and primer. Not having it ready for paint is driving me nuts. It'll be in paint soon though cause I'm closing in on it. My brother and brother-in-law are supposedly coming over to help out this weekend. Maybe with a couple extra hands I can get some primer down. That would be nice.

i agree but if you pant it and HATE it with the orange black will be dark enough to cover it without much hassle too. But its gonna look bad a$$ when its done
