Also if you look at the pics you can see that my front end is welded to the roll cage and there are also braces on the underside of the frame to the bottom tube of the VW beam front end. I also put on a SWAY-A-WAY 3/4" sway bar with poly bushings to stiffen it up. These front ends are strong enough to take the punishment of BAJA, They work fine for the street. One last thing, I did totally rebuild my front end and swapped the leaves around in the tubes. Meaning, I took the middle springs out of the top tube, and made them the outer springs of the bottom tube, and vice-versa.

Wooooow, that looks awsome!
What is your solution for the added front axle weight, coilovers instead of the shocks?
I would like to go with airbags, probably these shockwave units are the best way. I would call them bag-over shock-style.
I also want to increase the body width about 4-6 inch, will looks fine and will help by the steering shaft instalation.
Please post some more pics of the whole build.

Yes, it will work. The engine will sit further back. More of a mid engine car, if you will.

Not bad at all ;D
My plan is to build the Bug like a Roadster or a Hi Boy, with a Grill in the front and without a bonnet or fenders.
I anyone got pics of something like that feel free to post.

Oh yeah, those front beam type suspensions can handle some abuse. Think about Baja bugs doing 100 mph jumps.

Off the top of my head, I would guess around 4" for the fuel pump.

Before you jump into using the VW front end ,make sure you have the wheels you're gonna use and the brakes you want. My problem is I want my wheels to match and I'm having a hard time matching the back to the front VW wheels. I found a pair of centerlines for the rear and I was thinking that I could get the same wheels for the VW , but nope it aint that easy. Centerline doesn't drill the 4 x 130mm lug pattern in the states, cheap that is. I found several in the U.K. but it will cost me about $500 for two. 4-get that! If you go with disk brakes up front( which I highly recommend) get the lug pattern that will work for a more common wheel, like 5 x 4 3/4" (chevy),or 5 x 4 1/2" (ford) I may get new disks with the chevy pattern so I can get matching wheels. Just a little FYI.

They have adapters for the chevy pattern, very common, but I'm not sure how strong they are.
