for those of you who might think that this idea of SKAR's won't work, here's a link to another message board with a pic of a Mustang mini-stock with the body off for maintenance for the winter..I gotta find out if he chopped the body off for the original construction or not,but you can tell that with the proper roll cage, the Mustang can stand by itself..which is what he said he was going to do in the first place..anyhoo,here's the link... merrittville.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=553&page=1I'll see if he can send me some pix of the front end to show it's set up...

that is a LOT of bracing in that picture. so long as you are able to keep the front end braced, there shouldnt be any reason it shouldnt work. any updates?

It'll work with the right reinforcement. Perhaps with a 12 pt cage and the strength of the body will be enough.

well,I'm beginning to think that SKAR's missing in action or something along those lines,he hasn't been here in ages..as for this Mustang, she was out and running last night at Merrittville Speedway, got caught up in a wreck early, nothing major.. ;D..I just wish I had Photoshop,I could have chopped that pic to show what bracing I'd leave in to show how I think this project would work..a lot of the bracing on the back is actually to protect the car in case of a rear-end impact, among other things that you wouldn't get on the street..

I've seen the crash test vids on u-toob. They don't do well. Take a look at the crash tests for S-10, they don't do well either. All more the reason to install at least a 10 pt cage.

well with that big v8 in front of you and with that steel frame, mine is boxed in, it should hold up alot better.

ya but with some 5 point harnesses and trying to be safe, it wont be as bad, key word as bad.
but thats the risk of having a highly modified, high powered, flying metal death trap. haha

a vw bug with a big ass motor, where else are your arms supposed to be? and dont try and give me that speel about ur hands being on the steering wheel at all times. because thats for average people that live dull lives, me on the other hand love adrenaline, and i think anyone that has or is in the prosses of putting a god awful big engine in a lil bug is ok in my book haha

That's why I put mine where I did. You'll have to small the frame in before anything happens to the tank. ya but with some 5 point harnesses and trying to be safe, it wont be as bad, key word as bad. but thats the risk of having a highly modified, high powered, flying metal death trap. haha Just don't go getting into a wreck! Getting into wrecks are for amature drivers, LOL!
