Here are a couple pics of my wide69 in the works , I got the motor out at the moment , in the process of rebuilding ,this car runs all vw running gear , i have a cage and 4 inch channel iron around the perimeter of the body , everything is welded together pan is a thicker gauge sheetmetal, cage is welded to channel also welded to the body , it seems very strong no creaks under hard accell at all, body is chopped 5 inches , 4 inches added to the bottom ( to make up for the channel) and 6 inches onto the rear apron There is a bit more info at my site www.wide69.com

Welcome aboard! I remember seeing your ride on volksrods. So you widened the whole car right? I can see the extension on the bottom. Looks good!

Between the fenders is it filled with glass or all bondo?

Between the fenders? not sure where specificly you are talken about , but all the body work is done with sheet metal, with some dynaglass filler over the welded areas, between the fenderwalls and engine compartment is just a layer of insulation and air space.

Between the fenders and the body where the beading normally goes. I'm just curing how you got the smooth transition. Looks good!

hes talking about the seam between the body and the fenders. i like the bug, it reminds me of those fat cars, the lil hot wheels cars that look like they have been run over lol

It,s welded together, then ground the welds , then dynaglass , The whole car is welded together, all fenders, running boards to body and fenders, roll cage to body , body to pan, etc. It is solid as a rock, I have stood on top of the fenders just to see how strong they were, they seem to hold up.
