im going to build one. im going to build it using nonferrous metal(copper, aluminum, brass, lead) and hopefully have a lifetime part. it should keep it from rusting, or deteriorating.

update.............. got a 9 inch center section for the bug at a swapmeet in fredericksburg this last weekend. not exactly what i was in the market for. but i ended up with a positrac center out of a 68 mustang, running 4.56s. ;D ;D ;D ;D aslo got THE gauges that i am going to use. the speedometer has probly a 7 inch round face, and the other cluster is the same size, and has the other gauges gas oil pressure temp, and something else. they came out of an old schoolbus (76 chevy). they are BIG. the speedo goes to only 90, but i hardly ever get that far around the gauge anyhow, AND with 456s . picked up two supposed 327s, in the last week, another on the way, got to tear them down to be certain, but one of them had an exactly date matched pair of 291 camel hump heads with screw in studs and guideplates. and i got more sheetmetal for the 71 truck. did i mention id been busy? ;D -chris

my bug title showed up. got the title to a 71 super. it doesnt have a straight panel on it, except for 1 door, that i already have a better drivers side one of. havent posted any progress in a while, but ive gotten the rear end welded up, bought axles for it( mosers with ford 28 spline, s10 pattern, large truck bearings and retainers) for $500. finally got the frame disassembled from the engine and trans. got the bushings and shocks and ball joints for the front end, just need to install them. painted my 302 mid 70s chevrolet HiPo blue, and ground off all the casting identifiers that the block was once a 350.
you guys have been making REAL progress.
