I received the Mustang II front suspension parts. It is very thrilling to open up boxes full of chrome parts. My ten year old son, who by the way is the self proclaimed co-owner of the car, told me that the parts are "super-beast". I think that means that they are "very cool". yesterday, I broke a torsion spring on my garage door which translates into another monetary set back...and it's so nice outside today! 70fastback...I am leaning towards the Weld Racing Pro Star Wheels. They are affordable yet have a meaty and classic pro-street styling. I do like the Centerline Revolution Series wheels too. I am going with Mickey Thompson Sportsman Radials front and rear. I'm going to go as wide as humanly possible with the wheels in the rear. Auto Weld has an affordable rear clip with a custom 9" and four link setup. They can make the differential very narrow. I ordered my wheels this weekend. Once I get those in and the frame jig complete, I can measure for the rear clip. Weld Racing Pro Star, polished aluminum 15x5x3.5 backspace front 15x14x3.5 backspace rear MT Sportsman S/R Radials 26x6x15 front 29x18x15 rear

Those wheels are EPIC and they will look great on your notch! I love the tread design on the tires even more though. Nothing like aggressive attitude!

Here are some pics of my "Clean Slate". I am planning on making some radical modifications to the sheet metal inside the car. I will not start on that until I get the body mounted to the frame table and have plenty of braces to hold the body square. As it sits, the driver door is off a little, so I'm not going to do any more work on the body until it's all lined up. It's in pretty good shape considering the last person to some body work hacked it together horribly. (The front apron is in horrible shape!) so basically,this thing looked good going down the road,but looked like h@ll up close..I used to have one of them"back in the day"..a '67...it was my fourth or fifth vehicle..

She's like a truck I own...a "hundred yarder". Looks great from a hundred yards but the closer you get the worse she looks.

WOW! It's hard to grasp how big tires really are when you're used to seeing them in scale drawings and in catalogs. Got my tires today and all my son could say was, "those are so beast!" We're both very excited.

Tom,
If you mean tire clearance, the rims have a 3.5" backspace, so according to my calculations they will be perfect, even when turning. The track width on the IFS is only 56 1/2". With the rims and tires I chose, there will be only about 1 1/2" added to each side. The opening at the top of the wheel well side to side is almost 62". I'll just have to be careful when constructing the frame so that I don't make the turn too soon towards the drivers compartment and make the back of the tire rub when I turn. The wheel openings are bigger than they seem too. I am planning on a 12" ground clearance...maybe lower if I can. But at 12", there is plenty of room. Plans don't always go as planned, so we'll see as the project unfolds.

Had a wonderful day on Saturday, I got the frame table completed! Rained all day Sunday so I didn't bring the car over. I'll bring it over as soon as the weather allows. You can get the updates on the frame table project in the other thread under General Topics.

OK, the Notch is back home and here it is on the fram table before we started lifting it to ride heighth. I mis-spoke in an earlier thread that the ride heighth was going to be 12". Not sure where that cam from but the outside edge of the body will be 9" from the ground right behind the front tire and 10" in front of the rear tire. The frame and other under-body stuff will not be below 6" from the ground. I'm playing that by ear. Soon, I will be ablt to remove the wheels from the frame table and set it in the garage on the levelers. I've already installed some supports in the interior of the body. Once the car is mounted and the frame table is set on the floor, I can cut out the trunk and other parts that are in the way.
