The copper head gaskets might work for you on the street with that boost, but I can tell you that on my supercharged engines them alone will not hold. They would lift and leak like hell. I ended up cutting all of my blocks for o-rings around all of my cylinders. If you end up still having probs after the gasket change let me know and I can help you out. I build drag race engines so I have the tool and might still have the some wire o-ring. We run big boost and alky injection so it takes good stuff to hold it all in. Im a little drive from you but its not all that bad. I could do it for a fellow vee dubber.

Thanks Speedy... I will keep that in mind for sure. After actually tearing my motor apart yesterday I discovered that it wasnt the head gasket, turns out there was a Crack the # 5 combustion chamber of the head. Thats just my luck A head gasket would have been alot cheaper and easier to do then buying another set of heads but Now I got to buy both. Looks like my VW Will be down for a couple weeks as the Funds are not really good right now for me.

Hey Everyone, Been a while Since updated. Well its almost winter time and My VW is parked for the winter. I took it out for the last time today But I been doing some brainstorming lately about what I want to do next to my VW. Heres a Couple Ideas that I have and dont be afraid to leave me some Feedback.... 1. Turn The boost up on the Blower and Oring the Block. 2. Sell the Blower set up and Go with 1 Big Turbo or Twin Turbos. 3. Build a Naturally Aspirated 427 Small Block Chevy stroker. What do you all think? Also.. I think I have decided to Not Paint the car and Probably gonna leave it the way it is for the 09 Season.

Hey James,
Sorry to hear that. Did you ever get a replacement head or a new set? I think the blower looks cool and has the noticeable eww, and awww factor. I personally would go with the twin or the single turbo setup. I love the sound of turbos.
No paint? Maybe next year. Although it does look cool the way it is unpainted.

Yeah V8superbeetle, I actually had another set of heads under the bench for spares so I drug em out and cleaned them off. They are not as good as heads that was on it but they worked for the rest of this years driving season. Im tearing it back apart this winter to install a nice set of aluminum heads but debating on which motor combination to go with. I really do like the looks of the Blower on it... Oh Yeah and the Power is Nice to. LOL. If I got with the 427 stroker it aint gonna need NOS. Honestly I hate NOS, yes it is Cheap Horsepower but we just dont believe in usin it. And besides With a Blower or Turbo. THE BOTTLE NEVER RUNS EMPTY. LOL I am seriously thinking about 1 Big Turbo and having my block oringed and studded. Its got a good rotating assembly and Great pistons so I shouldnt have any problems there. I guess well see what happens over the winter. I might just turn the boost up on the blower and see how that works out.
Thanks for your Feedback Guys.

Hey badblown, I was wondering if you could help me, i've sorta copied your frame design, except for the a-arms up front. I'm needing to get some ideas for the rear end setup, I'm gonna do a 4-link, but am uncertain about my short upper and lower control arms. my uppers are gonna be about 21 1/2" and my lowers are about 23" long, do you think that's too short? I'm going with a 1"x1 1/2" rec tubing on bottom and 1 1/4" .125 pipe on top, I would think that would be strong enough.I looked @ a few other bugs here but because i'm makin mine the measurements don't work for my application.Roadrunna's car is the closest i can come to a good pic.Did you get yours fixed yet?Thanx.

Hey Mock1, I am Running a 3 Link suspension " LadderBars" I dont know much about 4 link except they make a much softer ride on the street because you have independent rear suspenion instead of ladder bars where what one side does the other side does the same. I would think your Materials would be strong enought but as to the lengths I am not sure on that. I will try to do some checking and let you know but I cant guarantee you anything. Good Luck with that though. Yes I got my Car fixed. It was only out of Service for about 2 weeks until I Got another set of Heads and put them on. It wasnt a great set of heads but they worked enough to use them for the rest of the year. Im getting ready to buy a nice set of aluminum heads and put them on and turn the boost up on the blower alittle more. Im also getting ready to Change the rear gears. going from 4.10's to 3.55's so should make a big difference in gas mileage which is what im going for. Im only getting about 6-7 mpg right now with the 4.10 gears but with 3.55 im hoping to get about 10-11 mpg out of it and do alot more driving this upcoming season.

Those lengths should be fine. They work out slightly longer than mine. This pic might be of some use (click for bigger version) I can get you an even bigger copy if you want. I've seen hotrodders over here run with bars almost half that length

Hey Everyone... I got email yesterday from a Friend saying he got the New Car Craft Magazine May Issue and seen my VW in the magazine.. I was Stoked to hear that and rushed to the store to See for myself. I picked up the May Issue of Car Craft, Flipped a couple pages and on Page 10 Lied my VW with a Little article.. That just Made my day seeing that in there. Thats one accomplishment for me to make it into a Magazine and to do it in Car Craft is Pretty Sweet.
Thanks James
