Thanks guys. Last night I got the chance to prime the oil system. Just about all the rockers have oil coming to them. For those that don't I'll be sure to just to pour some oil on them so they'll have lubrication until they oil themselves. Between the oil I put in the engine (Rotella T diesel oil) and the cam break additive (Crane Super Lube) my hand held drill was getting really hot. Haha, I thought it was going to give out. I turned the engine a little at a time, primed for a minute or two, primed, turned, etc. So all should be good.
I've got the distributor in and the timing set for the #1 cylinder. Next I just have to setup the wires and it'll be ready to be dropped in.

If it isn't one thing it's another. I didn't get the motor in this weekend much less did I get the car home. My old man and I couldn't get a hold of my uncle whom has the engine hoist we need to borrow. So the move was put off until next weekend. I'm going to try and borrow one from my mechanic. So hopefully I'll get it home sooner than this weekend. Some pics of the engine 98% complete. Just need to install small stuff like vacuum hose for the dist., pcv valve, put the oil sender unit back in (manual one installed for pre-oil which is pictured).

8-)I am using the Hedman headers on my V8Squareback project. Fit and look great.

The same ones you have. Hedman shorty S10 headers. I just bead blasted the black protective paint off them and coated them with some aluminum color ceramic paint.

Bought an engine hoist and put it together last night. So tonight I'll be dropping the engine in.

So I got the engine in last night. It's finally a V8 bug. Haha. I've managed to get one bolt completely through the mount and the other is in but not through the back of the metal mount plate. I've got to move the rear of the engine about an inch towards the passenger side so it can go all the way through. On another note, the engine fits great but I'll have to raise the body about 3" to clear the breather and the alternator. Seems dropping the body 6" around the frame was a tad too much. I might have to buy me a lower mounting alternator bracket for a short water pump. Maybe the one I have will fit after I raise the body, but we'll see. One great thing is the dist. clears the wiper motor compartment by about 2". That's with the motor all the way forward in the mounts so I've got a little wiggle room to move the engine back slightly if needed.

How wide is it from the valve cover out to the furthest point on the alternator? So, currently, you are running a long water pump? Where is your radiator going and what kind is it?

Hey Tom, Thanks. From one side to the opposite side of the alt? It's actually a short pump. The radiator will be going in the back to fill the void and to distribute more weight to the back. That and I could only fit a small radiator up front. The radiator is a 3 core brass radiator I believe. Here's a pic.

Now that I think about it. If I mounted the body so that the heater channels were flush with the frame I would have plenty of clearance even for the alternator mount that I have.

This is a stupid question ...but this is just a test fit right? And I was gonna ask why yours sits higher than hellraisers.Engine I mean.

The engine will come out a time or two again so I can weld the firewall in and paint the body. The reason the engine sits higher is because I have my body mounted flush with the bottom of the the frame and he has his mounted flush with the top of his frame. So there's about 5-6 difference. Seems I'll need to raise mine up 3 or so inches so everything will clear the hood.
