Just gotta love the difference in ride height between the stock bug and your car. Yeah................. Its the dead opposite ! front is down instead of up rear is up instead of down

Hi guys, Sorry for not posting in a while but I've been REALLY busy. Just thought I would try to post some pics but my comp is F***in up or something. Took the car out to an old road here and opened it up all the way to the floor and held it... I'm estimating I was around 110 or 120 Mph when it cut loose, maybe faster. I'm really having fun with it and it's still not done. Holy cow this car is fast, Not off the line but top end is amazing. However , the front started to lift and the back started to slide to the right, and just when I was going to let off, my pushrods gave way. Massive loss of power, and all kinds of knocking. I limped home and got a new set of rods, doesnt look like anything else was damaged, but I'm still putting it back together. I found no metal in the valley and very little on my magnets in the oil pan. I'll try to get some pics when my comp looses the attitude. New video will be comming soon... I hope. ;D

Sounds like you've been having some fun! Once it gets a little cooler I'll get back to mine. Been busy as well and it's just been to dog gone hot!

Hello fellow buggers! Been a while huh? Life is going way too fast!! I got one of these new smart phones and its takin me a minute to work it. Lol i need to root it to my comp so it will be easier to post i have some catching up to do. The boy is a beast! He is 36" tall and weighs in right at 35 # yes hes a big one! Loves the bug ,climbs in it trys to turn the wheel and the key, and thinks its funny when i ratchet through the gears. Hope all is well , c-ya.

Whats up guys! Not much to report, been workin a lot. Did take the bug out for a spin yesterday to blow the dust out. Not sure if its the fuel change, timing, or what. Something is stalling the engine between 2500 & 3000 rpm, ive tried the excellerator pump, but still didnt help. I even changed the jets down to 64 in the primaries, 68 in the secondaries, still dumping to much fuel i think. It is a double pumper but may not be working right. Hard to tell till its under a load. Just ideling runs great. Will keep tinkering till its right. Takin it out was a blast, and yeah it gets hot in there. When the engine gets to proper temp, that heat transfers to the frame, and right inside. Still need to get to a track sometime, and time it. But, till i get it tuned better not gonna waste my time, or money.

Awesome. I can't wait to get mine back up and running. Did you check the timing? Clean the carb? Last summer, mine started a slight hesitation off throttle. Timing slipped a little and I'm sure the carb might need a little attention.

My timing light is circa 1968 Sears brand i found, still in the box, in the attic of an old house built in 1953. It works great but not sure how accurate it is. Looking at the flaming river battery powered light just cause my battery is under the left side tire. Ive used one before, and we put rechargables in it. Long as they were charged, no probs. Carb is clean, real clean. After i gutted it, shaved the choke tower off, i only ran av gas in it. (Aviation fuel is better than most racing fuels, cheaper, and in some cases, easier to get.) Up till i changed fuels, there have been no issues. Im not gonna go playin with the timing till i can get back to the airport for fuel. The downside? I have to spend min $100.00. Im also contimplating puttin my 454 in there instead of the mouse motor.Oh yeah, i got a 454 last month for some welding work i did.

I even double checked the trans fluid level, just in case. Float bowls in the carb on the primary side were good. The secondary needed to come up but it didnt change my problem. Im thinking its the fuel. Im close to10.5:1 on my compression, so runnin high test pump gas would make it pre-detenate. Like i said, i need some track time to really get a good look at the plugs to see how its burnin at WOT.

Been a rough summer guys, bug bombed out on me. Water pump burned up, alternator fried somehow, qnd honestly, i cant afford to drive it let alone fix it. Been tryin to sell it, but nobodys interested. Will keep on truckin... Take it easy ya'll, check in later... Chris

Ok, so my $130 pro comp water pump that has less than 350 miles on it died. Since its over three years old and i got it off eday, im stuck without a pump. No, im too broke to fix it. Even putting a mechanical pump would mean changing the alt mount, rerouting cooling line suction, and new belt, again. But then i still have charing issues with alternators spinning the bearings out. Too loose and it squeels too tight and it thrashes the alt. No, too broke to fix it. Cant afford to buy high test let alone av gas. Heck, milk is gettin expensive. I need all the gas i got just to get to work. So, no. I will not he building a 454 for it. Gonna try to part it out and try to get some of my money back.

Ok, so here we are at the Perry swap meet this weekend. Got the bug for sale, and some other stuff to clean out the garage. Cutting my losses and just gonna get rid of it, sad to see it go
