Hi All. Just thought i'd say hello. I'm Si from over in the UK and about to start transforming my ratty '64 into a V8 powered beast Here's the '64 at the mo. And a couple of pics of the wifes car I've got the chassis plans that are sold on prostreetbug.com and should be starting building it shortly. Chances are I'll be coming to ask all you guys about parts and best places to get them from (Seeing as you have all the choice over there )

nice bug!!! rare one.. ;D maybe you could make it like the Hoodrides style where the body of the beetle remains to looks like junk but the other parts like the interiors and engine are in great condition.. hehe they will be surprised to see that bug with a v8 engine.. hehe just a thought.. but maybe the rust will eat the body faster.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVNUHXzK7jEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ekjOl4lm-Zo

how did the front end get so low?... ;D...it would probably be a real hit in L.A. where all the low-riders are from...but actually I've got a question about the chrome "vent covers" or whatever they're called...are they custom or what?...right below the head-lights...one more thing...is this a right-hand drive?..

I had to raise the front a bit in that photo. It used to be this low Only it was a bit much cos I couldn't even get a cigarette between the beam and the floor As for lowering it, it's running dropped spindles and adjusters on the beam. The horn grille trims were already on when I got it. I think you can buy them as aftermarket parts over here. Unbelievably it used to be a show car but then the Hoodride scene hit the UK and the owner decided to take all the paint off and make it rusty Not much of a fan of the rust look myself so it'll eventually get paint ... plus a blown chevy lump And yep, it's a right hand drive UK model.

Nice Rides, cool project and welcome! It'll be cool to see someone else make the pro street chassis plans come to life. Feel free to ask questions as you build your bug and we'll help you along the way.

Just to keep you going here's some pics of the last dub I built. Pretty much every panel replaced and a shed load of custom touches. Didn't stuff a V8 in there but it was running a Subaru 2.2L lump Also when the wife was a bit greedy & had the 2 Mustangs. She wasn't 'the wife' back then but I crashed the red one so had to make it up to her ;D Straight 6 to V8 swap on it Some fun in the mud Shortly before we got married ;D ;D And finally one of a local wedding just to get some VW's in here

Damage wasn't too bad. Probably about $1100 in panels to fix. But then the recovery guys made it far worse trying to get it out of the ditch. They hadn't got a clue and ended up killing it by getting a crane to lift it out on a chain through the roof. Bent all the roof up Still, we got the yellow one with the insurance money from the red one

you mean thats ALL just surface rust? looks like someone went and took a sander to it and parked it under a sprinkler. put some sealer on it aSap or there wont be much left of it in no time. whats the uk sbc? rover isnt it?

Yep, It's all surface rust. Shame really. The body is coated a few times a year with transmission oil which seals it. Gonna have to get it dipped before I get paint near it though. The rover lump is the main equivalent over her but i'm not gonna waste my time with that. Blown Chevy, probably a 383 or take the 351 cleveland out the wifes car when she's not looking lol. Still not got around to building the bench to get the chassis started yet
